Banana Kofta


Green banana is a therapeutic vegetable for many of the problems we have accumulated in our body because of our irregular life style. It helps in absorption of more nutrient into our intestine, it helps cure stomach ulcer and can prevent colonic cancer. It's good diet for diabetics and for those who want to loose some fat.

The taste of green banana does not appeal to many of us. But if you prepare it the way I suggest below, I swear you are gonna love it.

Ingredients:

For the banana balls (kofta):
  1. Green Banana - 2
  2. Onion -1 (finely chopped)
  3. Ginger (finely chopped) - 1 tea spoon
  4. Green Chili (finely chopped) - according to taste
  5. Coriander Powder - 1 tea spoon
  6. Chili Powder - 1 tea spoon or less according to taste
  7. Fresh Coriander Leaves (optional)
  8. Salt - according to taste
  9. Cooking oil
For the sauce:

  1. Bay leaves
  2. Whole Garam Masala ( Cardamom, Cinnamon, Cloves )
  3. Chopped onion
  4. Ginger-Garlic Paste - 1 Tea spoon
  5. Chili Powder - 1/2 Tea spoon
  6. Turmeric Powder 1/4 Tea spoon
  7. Chopped Tomato / Tomato Puree - 3 to 6 Table spoon accordingly taste
  8. Cumin Powder - 1/2 Tea spoon
  9. Coriander Powder - 1/2 Tea spoon
  10. Resins (Optional)
  11. Cashew nuts (Optional)
  12. Cooking oil
Procedure:

Making the banana balls (kofta):
  1. Peel off the skin and boil the green banana either as whole or by cutting it into big chunks.
  2. Smash the boiled banana and add finely chopped onion, ginger, green chili,coriander powder,chili powder, salt.If you have fresh coriander, u can finely chop that and add to it. Mix all the ingredients thoroughly.
  3. Make required sized balls and deep fry it and keep aside.
Making the sauce:
  1. In a cooking pan, add 1 table spoon oil.
  2. Put Bay leaves and whole garam masala, leave for few seconds.
  3. Add chopped onion, then add ginger garlic paste, fry for 1 minute.
  4. Then add chili powder and turmeric powder, then add tomoto puree.
  5. After a while, add cumin and coriander powder to it and add salt.
  6. If u like you can add resins and cashew nuts at this point.
  7. Add water up to required density, allow it to shimmer for a while and then add the kofta (banana) balls and turn off the stove.

Serve hot with rice or roti, as per your choice.
